We were awarded with a 24 month contract to provide regular news content for London’s iconic Tower Bridge, beating off competition from five other agencies.  It was quite an achievement, especially as we had only just started Barksy a year prior to submitting the proposal.  The aim of the project was for us to create a series of’ behind the scenes’ monthly features, capturing stories and events and helping to reach new audiences and create new visitors to the attraction.
Katherine Simon, Marketing Executive for City of London Corporation, said: "Barksy provided us with some varied and interesting ideas for content, and we were impressed with the work they had carried out for other clients.  They are approachable and knowledgeable and I know will provide a great sounding board for our activity throughout the year.
“The aim of involving Barksy is to give the public access to behind the scenes footage from the most famous bridge in the world. Not everyone knows you can step inside Tower Bridge. There is an exhibition, spectacular views, our beautifully maintained Steam Engines in the Victorian Engine Rooms and of course our fantastic new glass floor.   We have many hidden secrets and video is the perfect medium to share our fantastic stories.”
Ultimately, the challenge for us was to create affordable videos at speed, ensuring that the content was both entertaining and news worthy.  Frequently we didn’t know what the event was or how it was going to be filmed so we needed to be flexible and able to adapt quickly.  This is what the World of news is all about and it’s our jobs as auteurs to tell the story and tell the story right.  It’s about asking the right questions and trusting your instincts.  It was such an honour to be working with such a historic and influential British icon such as Tower Bridge.  We got to visit places that hardly ever get seen before.  That’s what we love about film making.  We just never know what the next day will bring.
